For me, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿... a year of ascending through pressure, discovering breakthroughs, and building something real.

This year, I founded a company with three incredible partners. We raised capital and set out to transform how airlines build with AI.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗜 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲

This isn’t generic copywriting. 𝗜𝗧’𝗦 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘.

We’ve built agents that automate compliance processes—months to weeks. Agents creating software with unprecedented quality. Agents transforming customer service, revenue management, hiring, and operations.

Complex systems that required massive teams can now be built with speed that seemed impossible just years ago.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲

One of the greatest gifts of 2025 was the people. I connected with incredible leaders, consultants, and operators from airlines worldwide—people working in maintenance, revenue management, operations, IT, and every corner of the industry. Their vision and commitment to excellence reminded me why aviation is so special.

𝗗𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴

This year, I made calls that hurt. Decisions that kept me awake, that cost me personally. But when you see people keep their jobs, when you see families protected because you chose integrity over comfort, you know it was right.

Leadership isn’t about comfort. It’s about 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴, even when it costs you personally.

2026 will test everything we’ve built. But after Max Q, the path to orbit smooths out.

This year taught me that perseverance and consistency beat all the obstacles.

They say, “al que buen árbol se arrima, buena sombra lo cobija.”

Looking back, I realize how many good trees I’ve found along the way.

I’ve also learned that “no por mucho madrugar, amanece más temprano,” but I still keep waking up early… because sometimes, the effort itself matters more than the immediate outcome.

Life, as we say in Cuba, is “un guión sin ensayo” you fall, you get up, and you keep going. With every fall, you learn to climb higher, to see further, and to cherish the view from each peak.

37 trips around the sun, and I’m ready to keep climbing, knowing that the best views are still ahead.

After all, “el que no arriesga, no gana.”

Thanks to God, my family, friends, and colleagues for being my roots, my shade, and my inspiration.

As the year began, challenges surfaced, and small cracks that had been easy to overlook became impossible to ignore. It was clear that change wasn’t just necessary, it was an opportunity to refresh, to rebuild, and to reimagine what was possible not just for myself but for the team and the vision we shared.

And so, we embraced that change. We turned challenges into opportunities, shifting our focus toward creating something stronger, more expansive, and filled with new possibilities.

AI Champions: From an Idea to Action

Amid this reset, AI Champions was born. It started as a dream—to accelerate AI adoption and empower developers—and evolved into something far greater.

In June, we began work on our first incubator project, KaibanJS. By September, we launched its first version, and in just six months, it has grown into a framework that’s making waves in the AI and JavaScript communities.

Here’s what we achieved:

• 800+ GitHub stars and counting.

• Over 20,000 Multi-Agent Runs, showcasing its real-world impact.

• Recognition as a top JavaScript AI framework and features in major newsletters like NodeWeekly and Bytes JS.

These milestones are proof of what’s possible when you take action, even in the face of uncertainty.

Building Momentum

2024 wasn’t just about building a product—it was about building a community. We launched the KaibanJS Discord server, shared our roadmap publicly on GitHub, and started meaningful conversations with developers, contributors, and industry leaders.

We also shared our story on bigger stages:

• At the MLOps Virtual Conference, alongside leaders from Hugging Face and Google.

• At Miami AI & ML Unplugged, where we connected with the vibrant local AI community.

• At AI Agents Waterloo, showcasing how KaibanJS brings multi-agent systems to life.

Each step forward brought clarity and momentum, turning a year of "Hit Refresh" into one of transformation.

Key Lessons from 2024

1. Foundations Matter.
This year taught me that progress begins at the core. Quick fixes might work temporarily, but lasting growth comes from strengthening the foundation.

2. Clarity Comes Through Action.
The path forward isn’t always clear, but taking steps no matter how small creates momentum. Building KaibanJS, launching a new office in Miami, and entering contests like the Google Gemini Challenge taught me that action brings clarity.

3. You Can’t Do It Alone.

This year reminded me that none of this would have been possible without God’s guidance and the incredible people who believed in the mission.

Advisors like Anton and Seth, and contributors like Daniel, Odin, Antony, and Abisneh, reminded me that collaboration is key. None of this would have been possible without the incredible people who believed in the mission.

4. Keep Fighting.
There were moments this year when the obstacles felt overwhelming. But I’ve learned that storms pass, clarity emerges, and progress happens when you keep moving forward.

Looking Ahead to 2025

2024 was about hitting refresh, rebuilding, and reimagining what was possible.

Now, as we look ahead to 2025, it’s time to ASCEND.

This next year will be about building on the foundation we’ve created, scaling our impact, and reaching new heights.

Why put myself through this?

It's simple: JavaScript deserves a better AI ecosystem.

It breaks my heart to see how limited our options are. You see, JS and I go way back – 15 years to be exact. I fell head over heels for it in my 3rd year of college, thanks to Lidiexy Alonso, Yuri Victor Munayev, and Caridy Patiño. Since then, it's been my mission to push JS to its limits.

I have to thanks JS so many things:

• It helped me get out of Cuba

• It got me a job as a paperless immigrant in Venezuela

• It led to my first open source project, AniJS

• It landed me my first job in the US at EveryMundo

• It enabled me to create my first company, FRONT10

Fast forward to now, and here we are in the AI revolution. But when I looked for AI tools built for JS developers like us, I hit a wall. Sure, there are a few options out there, but nothing that truly speaks our language.

Nothing that harnesses the full power of what we've built in the JS ecosystem:

• Reactive state management for dynamic user interactions

• Component-based architectures for rapid development

• Comprehensive testing frameworks ensuring robust applications

• A vast npm ecosystem with solutions for almost any need

• The ability to go from concept to global deployment in minutes

• Write once, run anywhere - from browsers to servers to mobile
  

So, after months of waiting and searching and coming up empty-handed, I made a decision that's turned my life upside down:

If the perfect AI framework for JS doesn't exist, I'll create it myself.

That's what these past two months have been about. Every line of code, every architecture decision, every sleepless night – it's all been in service of giving our JavaScript community the AI tools we deserve.

That's why I'm excited to introduce KaibanJS.

While we're still putting the finishing touches on it, I can't wait to share it with you all.

In the coming weeks, I'll be reaching out to many of you for feedback and early testing. Your insights will be crucial in shaping this tool that I believe will revolutionize how we approach AI in JavaScript.

When I arrived in Miami 10 years ago, I had no money, no family, and $18k in debt.

Just like many other Cuban immigrants, I faced countless challenges. But little by little, I fell in love with this city. It’s where I watched my two children, now 4 and 7, grow, got my first US tech job, and launched my first startup.

All these milestones made Miami feel like home.

While many see Miami as just a beach destination, it's so much more.

Thanks to leaders like Francis X. Suarez, Melissa Medina, and organizations like Venture Miami, Endeavor Miami, and eMerge Americas, we've witnessed an incredible evolution in the tech ecosystem.

Miami is a city of hustlers, filled with diverse talent from Latin America and beyond, all eager to shine.

Now, with my second startup, AI Champions, I want to keep giving back to this amazing community. Through our AI incubator, AI community, and by helping businesses adopt AI.

Giving back is a continuous journey. We aim to empower others to achieve their dreams and contribute to Miami's vibrant tech landscape.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗹... 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘀𝗸…

It all started back in 2012 in our Artificial Intelligence class, I was amazed by Genetic Algorithms. The day before a test (which had nothing to do with Genetic Algorithms), I tried to create one that could generate ideas. Needless to say, I got a C on the test, but the experiment was worth it! 😆

Fast forward to 2019 at Front10, where we assembled an AI team to create a recommendation system for dynamically display modules to users on a website. Those were amazing times, but we eventually had to shift our priorities.

During the ChatGPT explosion in November 2022, I was in the hospital taking care of my wife.

While she slept and had "good days," I started experimenting with GPT-3 to create video structures. I would ask it to generate “a video about ancient wonders in JSON format,” and it would return a JSON file with all the video specs (media, voiceovers, script, story) needed for rendering in WOXO.

OMG, I was amazed! This process later became the core of "Idea to Videos," the tool that helped WOXO grow from $2,000 MRR to $20,000 in just one year!


Since then, I’ve focused on Generative AI, exploring prompting, RAG, models, monitoring, and more.

Despite its potential, AI adoption is still slow in society, which is a challenge I can't ignore. That's why I’m dedicating my time to accelerating AI adoption and its benefits.

Me: Umm, Ahhh, (thinking hard.... Should I say it's an outdated version of ChatGPT? Umm, I don't want to say that about a dictionary.)

I haven't read one since high school days. So I got caught in the task of explaining what a dictionary was to him.

In a flash, inside my brain vision model, I saw memories of:

- An old Larousse Dictionary
- The Encarta Encyclopedia
- Wikipedia
- Google
- ChatGPT and LLMs

Oh man... time flies... I'm getting old. But I felt so lucky.

Me: Look Dari, a dictionary was a precious treasure when I was a kid just like you. For doing homework, learning new things and fighting boredom. (As an only child, the dictionary often became my companion, a gateway to fascinating words and their meanings. )

Darielito: Ohhh that's cool Dad, (heavy bombardment of a gazillions other related questions .... but that's another post). 😂

I smiled at Darielito's curiosity. Although times have changed, the desire to learn remains constant. As he flipped through the dictionary's pages, I knew it would open up a new world for him, just as it had for me.

Perhaps, one day he'll be explaining dictionaries to his own kids, talking about a time before AI assistants were everywhere like they will be.

Today I got an email from my hosting provider that it was time to renew aquinama.com... And just like that, I was taken back to 2014, the year it all started.

It was my first dive into creating a website that aimed to be what revolico.com (Cuban version of Craiglist) was for Cuba, but better. I wanted to make something that wasn't just a copy. It had filters, favorites, desktop app, etc...

It even had support for multiple sources: Cubisima, custom databases, Excel. (Classic strategy pattern: Ernesto Carrasco De la Torre knows what I’m talking about 😅). At that time, I tended to overengineer everything I did, using "software design patterns". The classic "What if the users want this in the future?" 🤷‍♂️

From PHP to the magic of Javascript...

The journey wasn't easy. The site first came to life using PHP Symfony. But then, Caridy Patiño, a tech whiz and Yuri Victor Munayev’s brother, pushed us into the future. He convinced us to switch everything to front-end technologies and YQL (a revolutionary method at the time for extracting information from any web data source).

This change was huge for me. It opened my eyes to what was possible with modern web tech. It was tough but worth it.

Getting the Domain back then in Cuba was a Whole Adventure...

Even getting the site online was a challenge. We used free GitHub Pages for hosting and had to switch between multiple VPNs to deploy. 🙈

And for the domain...

I had no credit card or family outside of Cuba to help me buy the domain. Luckily, a friend's dad came through for us. He bought aquinama.com, and just like that, we were on the map. It's moments like these that remind you how important friends and community are.

The marketing team was a "funny" automation...

After securing the domain, we embarked on a unique marketing journey.

We wrote a script that could publish a listing in every Revolico category, advertising aquinama.com. It was funny because they quickly discovered and blocked us. But then we would find another way to post our ads again. It turned into a cat-and-mouse game, each of us trying to outsmart the other.

Looking Back, Moving Forward

Now, 10 years later, I'm amazed at how much that project taught me. It was more than just building a website. It was about overcoming obstacles, learning new things, and making connections.

But cooking it in stages? That's a walk in the park. You nail each dish before moving on to the next, eliminating the chaos.
